About Us
Working with Vida Wellness
Vida Wellness Founders and husband and wife team Nick Hurwitz and Micaela Morrison met each other in recovery. After building new lives and a family together in Austin, TX, they now have dedicated themselves to helping people find their true selves in recovery.
The Vida Story
Bringing a child into the world is perhaps the greatest act of hope. For those of us in recovery, it is an act of victory — over the statistics, over the demons, over the things that could have taken us down. So, when Nick and Micaela had their first child together, they named her Zoe, which means “eternal life.” Their second child’s name, Evan, means "God is gracious" — an acknowledgement of the blessings that new life brings.
Vida Wellness is their next creation and contribution of hope to the world. For the families they work with, Vida Wellness is a promise: A new life is possible for anyone. We’ll help you find it.
Meet Our Founders
- Meet Micaela Morrison
- Meet Nick Hurwitz
Micaela struggled with substance use disorder starting in high school. The following ten years would be a rollercoaster of active addiction and treatment attempts, before she finally found lasting recovery in Texas. Micaela graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelors of Communication Studies. Early on in recovery, though, she dedicated her life and career to helping other women find their way.
It all started at a woman’s treatment center, where she fell in love with the process of watching other women get their lives back. She has been working with men and women ever since, and became certified with the State of Texas as a Recovery Peer Support Specialist in support of that mission.
Micalea loves yoga and spending time with her and Nick’s two daughters, Zoë and Evan.
Nick Hurwitz is living proof of the power of recovery. After growing up in a family rife with addiction, he developed substance use disorder himself and was homeless for more than ten years in his addiction. It was a long and challenging road, but Nick finally found his way to recovery in Texas. There, he dedicated his life to helping others walk that path.
From an early job as a tech Nick soon worked his way up to supervisor and manager of a sober living. Then, he became a certified recovery coach and Director of a sober living, case management, and coaching after-care program. His cousin’s fatal overdose in 2019 made Nick ever more committed to sharing the recovery he had found himself. Soon, Vida Wellness was born, with a commitment to delivering the tools, support, and resources people need to get and to stay sober.
Nick has dedicated his life to helping men and women who are looking to turn their lives around, and the power of his own story has given him a unique ability to connect with others. Over the years, he has worked with hundreds of people, finding true fulfillment in guiding them to serenity.
